Researcher position in sociology (Fixed-Term Contract) at the University of Milan, Department of Social and Political Sciences, spsTREND research lab on social and political change

The Department of Social and Political Science at the University of Milan is recruiting a fixed-term contract researcher in sociology (Ricercatore a tempo determinato di tipo A – RTD-A). The position is fully funded for 36 months. The researcher is also expected to teach an academic course (40 hours) per year.

The position is part of the newly EU-funded Infra4NextGen project (providing research infrastructure services to support Next Generation EU). Infra4NextGen will re-purpose and customise existing research infrastructures data to support the five themes of the Next Generation EU programme: Make it Green, Make it Digital, Make it Healthy, Make it Strong, and Make it Equal. In each of the five themes, partners will produce an inventory of relevant items already fielded on cross-national surveys. This initial information will be supplemented with new data collected on each topic via the online CRONOS web panel fielded over five waves in 11 countries. The project will be co-ordinated by the European Social Survey European Research Infrastructure Consortium (ESS ERIC) and includes CESSDA ERIC, the European Values Study (EVS) and the Generations and Gender Programme (GGP) at its core. The researcher will be part of EVS team of the Infra4NextGen project (; s/he will also work in the vibrant context of spsTREND, a research lab hosting the Italian sections of EVS, the International Social Survey Programme (ISSP), the World Values Survey (WVS) and many other relevant research projects.

The ideal applicant will be a skilled quantitative researcher that has demonstrated experience analysing survey data. Previous experience with data harmonization and questionnaire design is welcomed. The position is open to candidates with a PhD in sociology or related disciplines. It is also necessary to have an excellent command of the English language, both written and oral.
